Excellence in Continence Care
A new updated Excellence in Continence Care guide has been published, promoting equal access to services and treatment for all. It is applicable to all children, young people, adults and the elderly. The purpose is to promote consistent practice, improve the experiences of people with continence needs, drive advances in clinical outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

NHS England National Bladder and Bowel Health Project Aims:
To deliver efficiencies to the NHS while maintaining quality of care and choice, avoiding duplication of work by promoting a whole system approach to impacts of continence on local health economy and associated services.
To ensure sustainability and value for money for the NHS by defining a cost-effective model of care, establishing a patient journey/model for bladder and bowel health for product provision.
To understand the full patient pathway, interdependent services and continuity of care and develop minimum standard of services to be commissioned nationally linked to agreed patient outcomes across a defined pathway - consistently
Quality of life (Patient defined) outcome measures to integrate into performance measures for adoption by commissioners along with nationally agreed standards and pathways of care.
Develop system wide communications plan across partners to ensure existing policies and strategies are implemented consistently across the health and care system.
